Welcome

Welcome to West Des Moines United Methodist Church! We offer you a very special welcome in the name of Jesus Christ! We invite our guests to stop by the Welcome Center in the Narthex to pick up several special gifts. Our prayer for you today is that your heart will be touched in special ways by God’s love. We are honored to have you worship with us and we want you to know we have a place for you within the family of Christ! Come as you are. We honor and welcome the diversity you bring.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I have to say anything, sign anything, give anything, or be singled out in any way?
If you are visiting, we do not ask you to give a dime when we pass the offering plate. We will not make you wear a visitor badge or stand up so that everyone can see you. We would like you to sign the red attendance register so that we can assist you in your visit to West Des Moines United Methodist.  You can also pick up a free gift at the Welcome Center at the entrance to the sanctuary.

What should I wear?
Some people come dressed in jeans and t-shirts while others come dressed in business casual. If you prefer to wear a tie or a dress, that’s fine too. We want you to feel comfortable while we experience worship together.  You can even bring your coffee.

What about my children?
Children are welcome at both services.  A Nursery is provided for children ages 0 – 4 in Room 209 from 8:45 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.  Sunday School will resume on September 10. Children’s Sunday School is from 10:00 until 10:50 a.m. for ages pre-K through 6th Grade.  Youth (7th-12th grade) are encouraged to live out their discipleship by helping in elementary classrooms on Sunday mornings. Adult Sunday School is from 9:50 until 10:50 a.m.

May I take Communion?
United Methodists and West Des Moines United Methodist Church practice open Communion.  Everyone is welcome to partake.  Communion is offered on the first Sunday of each month at both services.

Do you have a service on Wednesday evening? Wednesday Night Live will return on September 13.
On Wednesday evenings we have Wednesday Night Live.  Wednesday Night Live starts with dinner from 5:30 -6:45 p.m.  Every week we offer a main dish, side dish, dessert, and a drink—with free refills! Best of all, you don’t have to cook or clean up afterward. Freewill offering accepted. From 5:00 – 8:30 p.m., we offer classes and activities for children, youth, and adults.

Parking?
In most cases, you should be able to park in the church parking lots immediately south and east of the church building. You’ll be entering on the lower level (1), so if you’re looking for the sanctuary, take the stairs or elevator to the 2nd floor, and follow the signs. Additional parking is available on weekends at the Hillside Elementary School lot directly south of the church.
