WDMUMC has an induction loop system, which transmits audio directly to hearing aids or cochlear implants, allowing users to switch to the “T” (Telecoil) setting for better sound.
What to Expect
When You Arrive
1. Park in the south or east parking lots.
2. Enter on the lower level (Level 1).
3. Take the stairs or elevator to the 2nd floor.
4. Follow the signs to the sanctuary.
5. Stop by the Welcome Center if you’d like help getting oriented.
Will I have to say anything, sign anything, give anything, or be singled out?
Not at all! We want you to feel comfortable. You won’t be asked to stand, introduce yourself, or wear a visitor badge. While an offering plate is passed during worship, there is no expectation for visitors to give.
We do invite you to sign the red attendance pad so we can assist you if needed. You’re also welcome to stop by the Welcome Center outside the sanctuary entrance to pick up a small gift.
What should I wear?
Come as you are! Some people wear jeans and T-shirts, while others prefer business casual or their Sunday best. Wear what makes you feel comfortable—and yes, you can bring your coffee!
What about my children?
Children and youth are always welcome in worship.

May I receive Communion?
At West Des Moines United Methodist Church, we practice open Communion, which means everyone is welcome at Christ’s table. You do not need to be a member of this church—or any church—to receive Communion.
During Communion, you are invited to come forward to receive bread and grape juice, symbols of God’s grace and Christ’s love shared with us all. A gluten-free option is also available.
If you prefer not to receive Communion, you are still welcome to come forward for a blessing or simply remain seated.
All are welcome at the table. We usually partake in Communion on the first Sunday of every month.
Do you have a Wednesday evening service?
While we do not have a Wednesday worship service, we host Wednesday Night Live (September–May).
Dinner | 5:30–6:30 PM
Enjoy a home-cooked meal with a main dish, sides, dessert, and drinks. No cooking or cleanup required! A freewill offering is accepted.

Where do I park?
Parking is available in the church lots south and east of the building.

Additional weekend parking is available at Hillside Elementary School, located directly south of the church.
