Angela Rothfus

Angela Rothfus

Administrative Assistant

I’m a lifelong Iowan. I was born and raised in Osceola. I moved to Des Moines when my husband and I were married in 2002. We now live in Carlisle.

My husband and I have three children. Our sons (Christian and Joel) are 12 and 10. Our daughter (Natalie) is 8. Our boys enjoy chess, art, reading, and computers. Our daughter loves reading, playing the piano, and doing crafts. My husband is a mail carrier and enjoys reading in his free time. I love reading, too. My favorite topics include spirituality, pastoral care, theology, psychology, and counseling. I also have a particular interest in end-of-life issues.

I have run a business from my home for the past 15 years and was a stay-at-home mom until a year ago. I completed my Bachelor’s in Psychology at Grand View University in 2017. I plan to go to graduate school for counseling or social work in the next year or two. I cherish opportunities to support others through a smile, a listening ear, or a hug.

I started here at WDMUMC in January of 2018. I am in charge of printing the bulletins and the Link, answering phones, and helping out wherever I am needed. I believe deeply in sharing the love, compassion, and mercy of Christ with our world. I am happy to be partnering with the great people of WDMUMC!

I have served as the Director of Parents’ Morning Out (PMO) since May 1990 and as Director of Preschool since August 1999. I have a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in exceptional children from Iowa State University. I enjoy playing golf, spending time with family and singing. My passion is to help others, especially people in need.

My favorite scripture is Romans 8:31, “ What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?”

Linda Plummer

Linda Plummer

Ministry Assistant for Congregational Care

I see God at work every day: In the people I meet, in random songs, I hear on the radio, in nature. God isn’t somewhere “out there” . . .  he is here, with us, in the form of the Holy Spirit. He is speaking to me constantly . . . if I will only be silent long enough to hear him.

My husband, Pat, is a retired accountant. We I have three wonderful children who grew up in WDMUMC. Adam teaches math and computer technology at Adel High School. He is married to Kelly, who teaches preschool at the Science Center of Iowa. Emily lives in Urbandale and works for A-Tech – a company that does energy audits and energy rebates. Mike is in Omaha working for Lockheed Martin as a computer engineer.

A favorite scripture is Colossians 3:12-15 – “Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.” (NLT)

I think this scripture provides a good model for how Christ wants us to live. It stresses love, grace, and gratitude.

Donna and Larry Johnson

Donna and Larry Johnson

Volunteer Membership Directors

As you might guess, this position is responsible for maintaining the membership records of the church. When people join our congregation, their names and information they provide are entered into the permanent membership records of the church. As family units change, those changes are also noted in the records. Births, deaths, marriages, membership transfers, etc. all become a part of their membership record. We also follow up with members when they move, change address or phone numbers, or place of worship. It is really helpful when members notify us of changes. This can be done via email or a phone call to the office. Thank you in advance for helping us to keep your information current.

Robert Bayse

Robert Bayse

Building Superintendent

I started working for WDMUMC in April 2008 after being employed by Power Cleaner of Des Moines for several years. I enjoy the challenge of overseeing the maintenance of our large facility and grounds.

I am married to Laura,  and we have a daughter Abigayle.

I found this scripture on an index card when I started here. My guess is that it came from Gary Padgett (one of our former superintendents).  I never took it off the bulletin board I found it on. It is a scripture that puts my head in the right place.

Isaiah 46:3-4
“Listen to me, O house of Jacob, all you who remain of the house of Israel, you whom I have upheld since you were conceived, and have carried since your birth. Even to your old age and gray hairs, I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”
