Prayer Shawl Ministry

Prayer Shawl Ministry

The Prayer Shawl Ministry was started in 2002 by Mary Terp.  Since the start of this ministry, more than 500 shawls have been distributed to persons in need of special comfort. The first prayer shawl was given to Peg LaVere.  Upon her death, it was given back to the church and now hangs in the Friendship Room.

The group is open to all and meets the first Tuesday of each month, from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm in the Wesley Center.  The shawls are either knitted or crocheted.  The yarn is furnished by the church.  Each month the completed shawls are blessed by one of the ministers.

Doris & Joe Sobotka

Dear Prayer Shawl Ministers,

Thank you so much for the beautiful prayer shawls delivered to my parents, Doris and Joe Sobotka, at Iowa MethodistMedical Center.  The prayers shawls touched the hearts of all of our family and we are so appreciative of the love and support from our Brothers and Sisters in Christ!

Please thank your congregation for the prayers and our deepest gratitude to those who spent tireless hours making the shawls.  We love you all.

God’s blessings to all of you,

Nanette
