Topic: Food Insecurity in Iowa – Who’s Hungry and How We Help
The Food Bank of Iowa is one of 200 Feeding America food banks spread across the United States. It moves 1 million pounds of food each month across 55 counties and 30,000 square miles serving 175,000 food insecure Iowans with the help of 500 partners. It is the largest food rescue organization in the state, as well as the largest food assistance organization.
Michelle began her role as president/CEO of the Food Bank of Iowa on Feb. 1, 2106. Prior to this, she led Community & Academic Relations for DuPont Pioneer. Before Pioneer, Michelle served as the Global Compliance Manager for John Deere Finance. Michelle serves on several local community boards and councils is a member of the Governor’s STEM Advisory Council, and an advisor to the Smithsonian National Museum of American History. Michelle was honored to be recognized as a Des Moines Woman of Influence in 2014. A graduate of Iowa State, Michelle is a native of Jefferson, IA. She is a CPA and a Certified Internal Auditor.
