Proceeds support local missions and church projects

The proceeds from the Christmas Cookie Festival are to be shared by local missions like Bidwell-Riverside Center and our own church's projects.

Bidwell aids our community wth daycare, preschool and GED education, assists homeless women and children, has a free lunch program, food pantry, and support to parents and children.  Bidwell provided clothes to 7,915 families (24,014 individuals) in 2006.  Again in 2006 Bidwell's Christmas Sharing program served 401 families and linked 392 families with sponsors.  That means 793 families had a Christmas that was a little bit more joyouse because of the warm clothes, toys for their children and food for a complete holiday meal. Bidwell's preschool readiness program serves 40 children, 25 of whom are funded through state programs and 15 whose families pay privately.

Start the Season with home-baked cookies!

IMGP1840-copy.jpgOn Saturday, December 5, from 8:30 to 11:30 am, pay $13 and receive a 96 oz. red bucket.  Then fill it with your choice from thousands of delicious home-made cookies.  Each person will be given a disposable glove so they can select the cookies they wish.  It's a great way to start the holidays with fresh baked cookies. Pick up an extra bucket for a gift. Before you leave, visit the "Broken Cookie Cafe," have a coffee and a cookie and watch the fun.  Children will be decorating their own cookies at Kids Corner.  Enjoy live music, including Judy Sheldon and Joyce Templeman in magical piano duets, the Gingerbread Man will be cavorting around, and it will be a festive atmosphere!  Back by popular demand are our dog cookies and cookies on a stick.

Tasty Tips

Packaging:  packaging.jpg
You can donate cookies, even with a busy schedule.  All you have to do is bake them when it is convenient and then properly package and store them.  To help us out, please put your name, the type of cookie, and the quantity on the ouside of each container.  Be sure to identify cookies with nuts.  If you want your container back, write your name on the top and bottom.  Click on the package to see some easy tips for freezing and storing.

Gingerbread_Brown.jpgIdeas:
Just think of your prettiest Christmas cookies and bake some of  them.  If you are stuck, click on the Gingerbread Man for a few recipes for children as well as rolled-out cookies  and decorator icing.

Every Cookie Counts!

IMGP1851-copy.jpg

Each year we have thousands of wonderful  cookies.  Proceeds are used to help with local church projects and local mission projects.  We donated $3,000 to Bidwell-Riverside Center after our 2008 Festival. Every cookie counts.  Often we sell out, but if we do not, due to the weather or other reasons, cookies will be available between services on Sunday.

Every cookie counts!  Can you help?  Call Louise McDonald, 225-1905, if you or your group wants to join the fun.

If you can't bake, consider making a cash donation to help support this event.  Every dollar counts!
