The Prayer Shawl Ministry started sometime in 2002. The first prayer shawl was given to Peg La Vere. Since that time over 400 shawls have been completed. There are over 40 women participating in this ministry. One member has completed over 50 shawls and another has made over 40. At this time completed shawls are blessed by one of our pastors and are then given to persons needing special comfort.
The group is open to people of all ages and meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the Wesley Center. We would like to encourage anyone interested to come and see what we are about--or call Mary Terp or talk to one of the ministers if you have questions. A prayer shawl is easy to knit or crochet, even for a novice. We will even furnish the yarn.
Our Prayer Shawl Ministry has roots in a national program. You can click on their website on the link shown elsewhere on this page.
"For it was you who formed my inward parts, you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; that I know very well."
