Children and Youth Safety
Missions Statement
To administer and implement the West Des Moines United Methodist Church Children and Youth Safety Policy and to recommend changes to the policy.

General Responsibilities

  • To assure the Children and Youth Safety Policy is followed.
  • To interpret the purpose and need for the policy to the congregation through reports to the Church Council and Tower Talk.
  • To receive and/or recommend policy changes.
  • To assure the 'training and interviewing' are provided.
  • To keep the staff and congregation informed regarding any change in state law, which relates to our policy.

      Responsibilities of the Chairperson

    • To see that committee responsibilities are carried out.
    • To report to the Church Council.
    • To assure that meetings are scheduled and members properly notified.
    • To submit an annual budget.

      Responsibilites of the Committee Members

    • At least 3 members at large, in classes of 3 years.
    • Ex-officio members (with vote) include
      1. Senior Pastor
      2. Director of Christian Education
      3. Director of Music Ministries
      4. Representative of the CECC
      5. Representative of the Pre-school Board
