Our Mission is through witness to reach out to people, invite and welcome them; we help them prepare to make a commitment or renew their commitment to Jesus Christ.

Our goals:

• Equip our church with tools to intentionally witness and invite
• Create and promote witnessing opportunities at church and community events
• Mentor New Members as they begin their faith journey
• Work on promoting congregational growth

How do we do this?

• New Membership Shepherding
• This is mentoring we offer to New Members.
• As for our guests, this team also makes a follow up. This is also one another thing that we would like more people to be able to do in the future.

 

• New Member Class
• This is an orientation we offer to those who desire to join the church. It is a three-session study around these themes:
• What does it means to be a Christian?
• What does it means to United Methodist?
• What does it means to be a member of the West Des Moines UMC?

 

• Awareness on witness and outreach
• Educate the congregation on witness and outreach
• Provide tools for better and effective witnessing
• Provide witnessing opportunities at church and community events
