 Worship

Worship is the heart of West Des Moines United Methodist Church.  We believe that worship is essential to our personal and community faith formation.  Through worship we participate in the birth, teachings, life, suffering, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ.  It shapes us into authentic disciples of Jesus Christ.

It is our intent and desire to use a variety of worship experiences, styles and methods to help each person be drawn into a deeper personal commitment to Jesus Christ in their daily life.

The Great Thanksgiving (Holy Communion) - served the first Sunday of each month
The United Methodist Church practices open Communion, which means that the table is open to all persons regardless of religious affiliations or age.  We serve grape juice out of respect for those who could not partake if we served wine.

 Worship Themes

Traditional Worship Service- Sundays at 8:30 a.m.
If your heart is captured by the magnificence of a liturgical style and a wonderful pipe organ, then come join us for this service.

Contemporary Marketplace Worship Service - Sundays at 11:00 a.m.
At 11:00 a.m. we gather at tables, bring our coffee with us and get to know one another a little more.  We may look casual, but we are very serious about following as Jesus' disciples.

Summer Children’s Church - Children in Pre-K through 2nd Grade are invited to participate in arts and crafts, games, and a Bible lesson each week following the Young Disciples Time at the 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. services.
