Palm Sunday services will be held on April 9 with children participating in a palm processional at the 8:30 service. Both children’s choirs will sing for this service as part of the Palm celebration. The second part of the service will focus on the Passion Story with special music by the Chancel Choir and Wesley Ringers.
24-Hour Prayer Vigil and Labyrinth Walk will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12 and continue through 7:00 p.m. on Holy Thursday. As we end the Lenten season, the Prayer Ministry team will again offer a 24-hour Prayer Vigil where you can spend time in the Prayer Room. This year we will be offering an extra special opportunity for you to pray in an alternative way by using a Labyrinth! The Prayer Ministry team received special funding to provide this meaningful way to center and meditate.
Holy Thursday service at 7:00 p.m. on April 13 will include the Lord’s Supper (Communion) as usual, but with a new and special component: the Rite of Foot Washing. Just as Jesus washed his disciples’ feet before the Last Supper, we will also experience this solemn opportunity.
Good Friday services will be held on April 14 at 7 p.m. This very solemn, reflective service will include mournful music by the Des Moines String Quartet and soloists Rev. Linda Bibb and Barbara Sletto. This year we will celebrate the Service of Darkness known as Tenebrae.
Easter Day services will be held on April 16 in the sanctuary at 6:30, 8:30, and 11:00 a.m. Special music and hymns will be led by the Chancel Choir, Bell Choir, Organ, and Brass at the 8:30 service. The Praise Team will lead music at 11:00 but in the sanctuary to accommodate larger congregation size.
